A new exhibition of woodblock prints from one of the best known of all Japanese artists starts at Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM) on Tuesday 29 Nov 2016: Hiroshige’s Japan: Stations of the Tōkaidō Road.

The exhibition features 21 prints from Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō Road, the series that made Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858) famous. Hiroshige is considered one of the last great masters of the ukiyo-e tradition and his work had a direct influence on renowned western artists such as van Gogh, Monet, Cezanne and Whistler.
