As the summer holiday trade begins in earnest, owners of furnished holiday lettings are invited to a seminar at Darts Farm in Topsham on July 16th to hear some top tips from a panel of experts.

Topics at the seminar which is jointly hosted by chartered accountants Francis Clark and property agents Stags will include an update on topical tax issues for holiday lettings including capital allowances, relief for borrowing costs and a VAT update presented by former tax writer of the year John Endacott.

Monster shark caught off Devon coast

An angler fishing off the North Devon coast has caught a monster shark thought to weigh more than 450lb. Grahame Pullen, a 62-year-old sport fishing journalist caught Porbeagle sharka estimated measure in at 8ft and 450lb near an unspecified resort on the North Devon coast with friend and colleague Wayne Comben. Grahame will not specify the location due to concerns for affecting tourism in the area but has said the beach is a popular tourist destination. Crealy great fun!

I had been promising my 10-year-old son Sam a trip to Devon’s Crealy Great Adventure Park as soon as the wet weather disappeared. So, with the promise of a dry weekend on the cards and with the recent opening of new attraction The Lost World of Atlantis, last weekend was the perfect time to head for Devon’s greatest adventure park!

Sam and I have been fairly regular visitors to Crealy over the years and it never fails to amaze me how much the park grows each year.

Over one hundred travel agents from across the South West recently attended two evening events to promote the opportunities for passengers to use Manchester Airport as a hub for worldwide connections. Exeter Airport passenger numbers exceed expectations this summer

Exeter Airport can reflect on a busy summer of 2013 where passenger numbers from May until October exceeded expectations and were over forty thousand up on the same period in 2012. The overall inbound and outbound passengers for the five months totalled 415,618, an increase of 11%. Summer Holiday Getaway

The school holidays are about to trigger the start of the busy summer getaway period for Exeter Airport and up to 25,000 passengers will be travelling through the terminal in the next seven days.

The week will see 12,500 passengers using the airport on variety of routes from the Isles of Scilly to as far away as Sharm el Sheikh.

South West flights from Exeter to St. Marys have increased to five a day and over the summer 11,000 passengers will use the service.
