The Nello 2018 will take place on Sunday 24th June. The classic hundred mile pedal from Topsham over the roof of Exmoor and back is one of the highlights of the annual cycling calendar offering great scenery; superb climbs and far reaching views.

The 55 mile route, splitting from the 100 in Tiverton, heads across the County and offers an abundance of scenic country roads, a superb break in Nomansland and great camaraderie. Award winners from this year’s Devon Cycle Challenge have celebrated their achievements at a special presentation at County Hall.

It is the third year that Devon County Council has run the Cycle Challenge as part of Cycle September, and in that time more than 900 new riders have been encouraged to take up cycling by signing up to the scheme. In total, over 2.3 million miles have been clocked up in the past three years. Force / Bike Shed Autumn Cycle Series

On Sunday 1st October, Bike Shed and Force Cancer Charity are joining forces to bring the Autumn Series to Devon.

The Autumn Series is a cycle sportive starting and finishing at Broadclyst Community Primary School, with two routes covering 30 and 55 miles respectively.

The first is a 30 mile anniversary route utilising country lanes between Broadclyst and over to Broadhembury. The route then goes to Kentisbeare on to Clyst Hydon, over to Talaton and back to Broadclyst. There is one refreshment stop.

Cycle September events at Cranbrook

Free guided cycle rides and bike hire will be offered in Cranbrook as part of Devon County Council’s Cycle September campaign.

Throughout September, the County Council will be promoting cycling and encouraging more people to cycle more often. Free Dr Bike maintenance sessions will kick-off events in Cranbrook at the Younghayes Centre on Saturday 2 September and Sunday 3 September. Dementia researchers raise thousands for charity in epic bike challenge

Five dementia researchers at the University of Exeter have pedalled over an epic 350 miles from London to Paris, raising thousands of pounds for Alzheimer’s Society in a gruelling four day challenge.

The team has raised more than £11,000 towards their £12,000 target to boost the Society’s ground-breaking dementia research, and they still hope to achieve their goal. To donate, visit their Justgiving page.

Sam Pratt spends her day managing the CLIC Sargent Exmouth Charity Shop but this amazing woman is going one step further to help more young cancer patients.

The University of Exeter is encouraging more students and staff to cycle to campus by signing a citywide charter aiming to tackle inactive lifestyles, congestion and pollution.
