Love your beach? Then don’t be a dumper!

Teignbridge District Council has launched a new campaign ‘Don’t be a Dumper’ that aims to get people to pick up after their pooch and reduce the amount of dog mess that is left on the sands and seafront areas of local resorts.

Throughout this week (Monday February 1 to Friday February 5) Teignbridge’s resorts staff will be using glow in the dark temporary spray paint to mark dog mess on the promenade areas. Dog wardens will be out in force and will fine anyone who is seen not picking up. On Friday Feb 5 there will be a big clear up to remove what’s been left behind.

Student Life #9

You arrive at the University of Exeter and there’s one trip everyone wants to make as soon as possible – a day out in Exmouth. However, trust me when I say that there’s a better beach to visit.

Yes, okay, one of the main reasons I chose Exeter was so I would be in closer proximity to the sea. I’d lived eighteen long years of my life in landlocked Birmingham and had been teased by family holidays and my time spent in Bangor, Northern Ireland, to live closer to the waves. Officers are continuing their enquiries into the arson attacks and appealing for the public’s help with the investigation.

Work to start on Exmouth Beach sink hole

Work starts on the Exmouth Beach sink hole tomorrow (Friday 28 August) as contractors working on behalf of South West Water start digging down under the sand to a pipe which has possibly been blocked.

Over the last two months, the hole which measured around two metres, has opened up on a number of occasions on the beach near Orcombe Point. It usually happened after heavy rain.

Following a tip off from a member of the public, East Devon District Council engineers discovered a South West Water pipe deep under the sand and the contractors hope to be able to reach the pipe...
