Rathbone Investment Management have made a significant contribution to one of the city’s biggest LEGO® models as part of their sponsorship of Exeter Cathedral’s Big LEGO Build. The Build is a major fundraising project to build a scale model of the Cathedral from 300,000 LEGO bricks, using a design by certified LEGO builders Bright Bricks. Visitors to the Cathedral are being encouraged to get involved, and for every £1 donated a brick can be added to the model. Musical opportunity for Devon’s young singers

Youngsters who love singing are being offered a wonderful chance to spend a day with Exeter Cathedral’s Choristers at a special event next month. The day-long taster session, which takes place on Saturday 26thNovember 2016, is a free event offered by the music department at the Cathedral and gives children an opportunity to get a taste of life in the Cathedral Choir and sing with the current Choristers. Cathedral drainage project announced

VITAL repairs to the drainage system around Exeter Cathedral begin next week as part of an ongoing project to prevent serious damage to the fabric of the building. Efficient drainage around the Cathedral is vital for taking rainwater away from the stonework and preventing damp and decay. Localised excavations between the North Tower and the West Front of the Cathedral will allow for pipes to be replaced, manholes renewed and other repairs to be carried out. Exeter Cathedral has announced the return of its popular team quiz night. Comedian and author Tony Hawks has once again agreed to host the event, which takes place on Thursday 13th October 2016 in the medieval Nave of the Cathedral. On 5th September, Exeter’s cultural venues will celebrate a new season of events taking place in the city.

The Bike Shed Theatre, Exeter Cathedral, The Cygnet Theatre, Devon Libraries, Exeter Northcott Theatre, Exeter Phoenix and RAMM, will officially announce an exciting programme of events taking place between September and December at a launch party held at The Bike Shed Theatre.

Exeter Cathedral awarded £170,000 for urgent repairs

Exeter Cathedral has been awarded £170,000 for vital repairs to keep the building dry as part of the government’s First World War Centenary Cathedrals repair fund.

The grant will pay for urgent work to the drainage around the Cathedral, which is vital for taking water away from the stonework and not causing damp and decay.

The Dean, Very Revd Jonathan Draper, welcomed the grant, and said it would pay for important work to part of the Cathedral which – though unnoticed by the thousands of visitors who pass through its doors each year – was vital for the building’s long term...
