Homelessness charities providing vital services within Devon have today issued a plea to Devon County Council to reject proposed cuts to homelessness funding ahead of a special meeting of the Health and Adult Care Scrutiny Committee.

National law firm, Foot Anstey LLP, has announced the three charities receiving its latest Foot Anstey Foundation grants.

The funds, raised by employees, are donated to community organisations that have local impact.

Aldi donates 7,000 meals to charities in Devon on Christmas Eve

Aldi supported local charities, community groups and food banks in Devon on Christmas Eve by donating 7,000 meals to those in need.

Working with Neighbourly, the supermarket paired up its stores with local charity partners in the area to collect unsold fresh and chilled food when stores closed early on 24th December, with stores repeating the initiative on 31st December.

To further support local communities this year, Aldi’s Emergency Winter Foodbank Fund saw the supermarket also commit to donating £250,000 to charitable organisations throughout the winter season....

Chairman of Whimple and Broadclyst Young Farmers Club Ben Roberts has presented a cheque to representatives of their Charities of the Year following an amazing year of fundraising.

Members of the club enjoyed a fantastic 12 months of fundraising for their chosen charities Rainbow Living and Brain Tumour Research. Jerry Chew, Chair of Rainbow Living, accepted a cheque for £6,200 at the clubs meeting at Whimple Village Hall in October.

Aldi has supported local charities, community groups and food banks in Devon by donating 9,350 meals to people in need this Christmas.

The supermarket paired up its stores with local organisations to make the most of unsold fresh and chilled food after stores closed on both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, as part of its pledge to donate 1.8 million meals to families experiencing food poverty during November and December.

Around 550,000 meals were donated nationwide and more than 700 UK causes benefitted from the initiative over the festive period.
