Our Archivist, Felicity Harper will be doing a fascinating talk about Powderham Castle during WW2 at 12:30 and 2:30 in the Servants Hall.

Did you know...... the current Earl of Devon was born in the state bed on the night of the Exeter Blitz? You can see the fabulous state bed and other interesting artefacts on one of our entertaining guided tours.

Felt Poppy maker, Jenny Liggins will be showing our visitors how to make felt poppies, donations to the Royal British...

Pirate Week

Captain Jack and the crew of the “The Rusty Pocketwatch” will make the journey from the Caribbean early this year – they are looking for new crew members so why not put on that bandana and see if you have what it takes to be a pirate!

Don’t forget the castle is open on Saturday 30th May.

This event is included in a child's standard admission. (Children returning with a free return ticket or a discounted ticket may take part in our themed activity for £2.50)

Garden Festival a whizzing success

Toby Buckland’s Garden Festival at Powderham Castle on 1st and 2nd May was a "whizzing success" in it’s second year.

The two days opened with explosive "daytime fireworks", whooshing coloured smoke, and showering sparks in the clouds for opening ceremony with Toby and the Countess of Devon cutting the ribbon on Friday and (Lady Courtenay on Saturday) to start the day with live music, the festival Tuk Tuk and lots of local school children all ready to get gardening in the dedicated children’s marquee.

Flower painting inspires designer at Toby Buckland’s Garden Festival

Floral designer and judge on BBC2’s “The Big Allotment Challenge”, Jonathan Moseley has gathered a selection of garden blooms and purchased flowers to create the eclectic mix of colours and varieties to bring a 17th century Dutch floral painting to life in anticipation of the exciting gardening spectacular Toby Buckland’s Garden Festival at Powderham Castle.

Teddy Bear Fun Day

Children will really enjoy meeting our very famous bear and taking part in some teddy bear picnic games with their teddies too. Sessions will take place in the Pleasure Garden at 12.30 and 2.30.

Lord and Lady Courtenay (Charlie and AJ) will be attending the Re-interment of King Richard III today (Thursday 26 March 2015) at Leicester Cathedral.

Biker seriously injured in Kenton crash

Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious collision involving two buses and a motorcycle in Kenton.

The collision happened at around 7.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 3 March) on the A379 between the Powderham turning and Kenton village.

A double-decker bus and grey Yamaha motorcycle were travelling from Exeter towards Dawlish, and a single-decker bus was travelling in the opposite direction at the time of the incident.
