Exeter primary school handed laptops boost

A primary school in Exeter is celebrating after receiving a new set of laptops to help children learn from home.

St Martin’s Church of England Primary School, Cranbrook, has been given £6,600 to buy 20 Chrome Books by housing association LiveWest, so that pupils without access to computers are not disadvantaged.

LiveWest contacted St Martin’s with the generous offer after stepping in to help bridge the educational gap created by lockdown.

An additional 250 learner places have been announced on the #Train4Tomorrow Digital bootcamps which are open to adults in Devon, Plymouth, Somerset, Torbay, Cornwall and Dorset.

The #Train4Tomorrow programme is designed to help people enter highly paid growth industries in the region, such as cyber security, data science, software development, digital marketing and IT. The Bootcamps are being run by the Heart of the South West LEP (HotSW LEP) and the Digital Skills Partnership .

Lord Myners of Truro will retire as Chancellor of the University of Exeter after five years in the role.
