University of Exeter has the joint highest number of climate scientists in the top 100 of any institute in the world

The University of Exeter is home to the UK’s top five most influential climate scientists - the only UK climate scientists to secure places in in the global top 21 - according to a prestigious new list.

Four climate experts from the University of Exeter, and one who is jointly affiliated with the University and the Met Office, have been ranked as the most influential in their field in the new global Reuters Hot List , published on Tuesday, April 20th 2021....

At our Woman of the Year ball Penni Ball who runs groups in Pinhoe and Countess Wear, alongside fellow colleagues was congratulated on helping slimmers to lose weight and change their lives by singer and TV presenter Peter Andre.

The team, who run Slimming World groups in Devon, was delighted to get a chance to cuddle up to Peter when he presented the annual Slimming World Awards. The Mysterious Girl singer co-hosted the event with the organisation’s founder and chair Margaret Miles-Bramwell OBE.

World music premiere on Dartmoor

The world premiere of a new composition, inspired by Dartmoor and composed by Michael Alec Rose, will take place on Saturday 18 June at a Summer concert in Moretonhampstead.

Il Ritorno: A Perambulation for Unaccompanied Violin will be performed by internationally renowned violinist Peter Sheppard Skaerved on a 1629 Girolamo Amati violin (Amati’s son taught Stradivari the craft of violin making).

WAM -Weather Art and Music, an award-winning Special Interest Group of the Royal Meteorological Society, is to hold its next event in Exeter.

Cancer death rates drop in South West

People across the South West are being urged to show their support for World Cancer Day today (February 4) as Cancer Research UK releases new figures revealing that cancer death rates in the region have fallen by 9 per cent over the last 10 years.

The charity is encouraging everyone in the region to wear a Unity Band or make a donation to demonstrate their support for people affected by cancer.

The University of Exeter has broken into the top 100 universities in the world for the first time in the most influential global league table.

The University is now ranked 93rd in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, placing it among the very best institutions across the globe.

The new ranking marks a significant rise for the University, having leapt from 154th last year, and cements its position as being amongst the top 1 per cent of universities worldwide.
