New Okehampton office move for leading firm of chartered accountants

Westcotts, a UK top 50 firm of Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers, has relocated its offices in Okehampton to new larger premises from today (Wednesday 21 September).

Formerly known as Thomas Westcott, the firm’s seven strong team (pictured) will be based at new premises on Cranmere Road, Exeter Road Business Park on the outskirts of the Devon market town.

The move to bigger, more open-plan facilities from its previous location on West Street was marked with a small celebration for the team led by the firm’s partner Sarah Watts who manages the Okehampton office...

Local housebuilder Redrow’s Romansfield community came together last week to celebrate the Jubilee in style, with a party hosted by a couple from the development.

New residents Issy and Ian Magee, with the help of a donation from Redrow, put together an exciting afternoon of food, drinks and activities for the community to enjoy. With all of their Romansfield neighbours invited, over 50 people came together to enjoy the celebration.

Despite the threat of bad weather, a variety of activities were laid out for the community to make the most of the historic occasion.

Multi-award-winning brownie business to open café and shop in Okehampton

Award-winning brownie company, Love Brownies, is set to win the hearts, and stomachs, of the market town of Okehampton, with the launch of its brand-new café and shop on Fore Street.

Established in 2009, Love Brownies is adored for its decadent brownies and seasonal menus, which are available across its UK stores and cafés, as well as online.

The Okehampton store, which will be open to the public from Thursday 17th March, will mark the opening of the brand’s 18th café, with more set to be unveiled in the coming months as part of the company’s ambitious UK expansion....

£40m funding for Okehampton to Exeter rail line

More than £40 million of funding has been announced in today’s Budget to reinstate passenger services on the Okehampton to Exeter rail line.

Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak confirmed Government backing for regular services on the line, which has received a warm welcome in the county.

The investment will aim to improve transport links between communities and create employment opportunities across the county.

The Museum of Dartmoor Life has received a much-needed makeover thanks to staff from the Okehampton office of Simpkins Edwards, who took a day off from number crunching to help the local charity.

Inside the museum, a team of six painted the John Young gallery in readiness for the museum’s next exhibition; ‘Floral Wonder’ from the talented children of Okehampton Primary School. Externally, a further team of five weeded the Museum’s courtyard.

Museum Manager Keri Quertier was thrilled with the offer of assistance from the local Chartered Accountancy firm.

Rheumatology patients at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust will now be able to have treatment closer to home as new clinics begin in Okehampton and Honiton hospitals this month.
