Exeter Junior School pupils performed a special song composed in support of Sign Health and raised over £200 for the deaf health charity.

Not only did pupils sing the song fantastically well they also simultaneously signed it, using international sign language.

The song, entitled 'Together', conveys the message that it is through working together and supporting one another that we make the world a better place.

Music teacher Tina Guthrie said pupils worked on the singing and the signing in their music lessons.

"Their performance was powerful and moving and will be repeated at the forthcoming Junior School Spring Concert on 28 March," she said.

The performance was part of a national 'sign2sing' campaign which aims to raise awareness of sign language, and specifically to raise funds for the deaf health charity Sign Health.

"The pupils learned about some of the charity's work in the United Kingdom and in Uganda, where it is particularly active in training people to teach sign language, supporting projects aimed at helping the deaf to be involved in their community.

"They also raised a total of £215.90 for Sign Health through their non-uniform money which has been sent to the charity."
