Fresher’s Week Advice for New Exeter Students
If you’re soon to be starting at The University of Exeter, you’re probably gearing yourself up for some fun and games during fresher’s week. Fresher’s week in Exeter is a huge affair, with students from all corners of the city hitting the town every night. Getting the Look Right
Student events and club nights tend to be a more casual affair, so there’s no need to bring twenty pairs of heels, or your best suit and shoes to university. For nights out, guys will be fine in a pair of jeans, top and smart-ish shoes (trainers might be a problem) and for girls, you’ll usually be fine in pretty much anything, whether it’s a dress or a top and a pair of shorts. Staying Safe
Fresher’s week can be notorious for thefts and other crime, with innocent, confused and drunk students as the target. Although we’re sure that you’ve already got plenty of common sense when it comes to staying safe on a night out, make sure that you’re extra vigilant during fresher’s week. Keep a close eye on valuables such as your phone, cash and cards on a night out and don’t carry any more cash on you than is necessary. Try to stay in groups whenever possible, and be careful about who you let buy you drinks at the bar!

If you’re not familiar with the nightlife in Exeter or don’t have anybody there who can show you around, one of the best things to do is buy a fresher’s wristband.
