Former Dawlish student offered place at Oxford to study maths

A former Dawlish Community College student who has been offered a place at Oxford University to study mathematics has returned to the college to speak to aspiring students.

Amber Borowiec, who left the college in June 2015,  subsequently won a place at the Exeter Mathematics School to study for her ‘A’ levels. She has now been offered at place at Hertford College for October 2017.

Amber left Dawlish Community College with several GCSEs, including an A* in mathematics and is currently studying for ‘A’ Levels in mathematics, further mathematics and physics at the Exeter Maths School.

After applying and going through the rigorous interview process, Amber has now been given the good news that in October she will move to Oxford where she will be studying mathematics alongside the top mathematicians in the country at undergraduate level.

She is very excited about the challenges ahead and has plans to continue her studies in mathematics to at least Master’s degree level.

Amber kindly agreed to come back to the college and give a talk to Year 10 students about her achievements. This inspiring talk gave the students an idea of what can be achieved through hard work and dedication, reflecting the college’s motto of ‘Aspire, Believe, Achieve’
