Match preview: Burton Albion v Exeter City

City’s tough start to the season continues with a trip to the Pirelli Stadium to face Burton Albion tonight (Tuesday 19 August).

The Brewers were a Wembley win away from escaping League 2 altogether last season.  After years of clinging onto survival around the bottom for the Midland side, the influence of Gary Rowett has established Burton as a power in the fourth tie.  Ultimately Fleetwood were play-off final winners last year.

While City’s search for a first win of 2014/15 goes on, the Brewers have won all three of their games.  An opening day win at Oxford was followed by a stunning come-from-behind 2-1 win against Wigan in the Capital One Cup, and a similar turnaround against Dagenham on Saturday too.

Billy Kee, who scored twice in the last six minutes against the Daggers, has since been snapped up by Scunthorpe but the challenge still remains for the Grecians to stop the Brewers in their tracks.
