Man dies after car plunges off cliff

Police were called at 1.15am on Sunday 21 August 2016 with a report of a blue BMW X5 which had left Torbay Road and driven through a barrier and then over the cliff at Corbyn headland, coming to a rest on the beach.

RNLI, Coastguard, police, ambulance and other emergency services attended the scene. The sole occupant of the vehicle, a 41 year old male, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A witness to the incident left the scene without leaving his details and police are appealing for him, and any other witnesses to the incident, to come forward to assist the enquiry.
