The Exeter Sheep Trail is being launched next week (Fri 25th Nov) when a variety of knitted sheep will be displayed in local shop windows.

The trail is a community project being run by Isca Church and over the past few weeks’ enthusiastic local knitters have been busily creating a fabulous flock of more than 30 woolly sheep.

The sheep are all different shapes and sizes and have their own name, proudly displayed on a brown tag.

Local shops and businesses in Beacon Heath, Pinhoe and Whipton will put the sheep in their display windows – children from local schools, Willowbrook, Pinhoe and Whipton Barton are being invited to follow the sheep trail.

They will have a list of all the venues hosting a sheep and need to find the name of the sheep and write it beside the correct venue on their sheet. The trail lasts for three weeks and the children and their parents are being encouraged to visit as many venues as they can to see how many sheep they can find.

On Sunday 18 December, the flock will be starring in the Isca Church Family Carol and Nativity Service and children who took part in the trail will be given a certificate and a prize.

The 10.30am service, takes place at St James’ School in Summer Lane and will be followed by refreshments, nibbles and mince pies.

On Sunday 15 January, children and their families will be invited to a charity event, with lunch at St James School. They can donate money to a local charity, in exchange for a favourite sheep.
