Hospiscare Choir Sings at Rugby World Cup

The newly formed Hospiscare Choir will be making its first public appearance at the Rugby World Cup Fanzone in Exeter’s Northernhay Gardens.

The choir will be singing on October 17 at 2pm before the first quarter final which will be broadcast live on a giant screen.

Choir leader, Brian Clifton, a Hospiscare database administrator, said: “We are thrilled to be making our first appearance at such a prestigious event and we’re really looking forward to it. We will be singing popular, easy listening songs.” On stage in the break, pre and post matches, there will be a broad range of family entertainment - bands, singers, choirs, orchestras, dance and more.

The Hospiscare Choir was formed in February and is made up of staff, volunteers and supporters of local charity Hospiscare, who love singing. It meets every week at our Exeter hospice on the RD&E Wonford site where patients and family enjoy over hearing rehearsals. The choirmaster is Alfie Pugh, a local composer and arranger.

The choir’s first informal public appearance was an impromptu one in our hospice gardens where patient Gill Fisher was celebrating her birthday with her family. The choir was rehearsing and popped outside for an official photographer and at the family’s request sang Happy Birthday to Gill.
