Brightside Exeter has just had its first birthday.  To celebrate this milestone, the Brightside team threw a party at the site (on Saturday 24th February), located on the A38 at Haldon Hill, to thank the local community for all the support they have shown them over the past 12 months and to launch a new and exciting charity initiative – Brightside Local Heroes.

Each month, the teams at Brightside Exeter, Honiton and Saltash will nominate a local charity or community group to receive a £250 Brightside voucher to use as they wish.  Suggestions and recommendations for recipients will be collected from guests and staff with a shortlist being voted on each month to choose the worthy cause.

To kick start Brightside Local Heroes, Brightside welcomed staff and volunteers from South West Blood Bikes, Shared Lives and St Cleer Youth Football Club along to the first birthday party to receive the very first £250 vouchers.

Charlie Jones, Operations Manager, Brightside says: “Happy Birthday Brightside, hopefully the first of many.  We love food, it is what makes us tick, and we understand it’s a great way of bringing people together so what better way to celebrate and thank those who have made Brightside their home over the past year?

“We’re passionate about community and playing our part so as a way of highlighting and championing those doing such great work in the area, we’ve launched Brightside Local Heroes as a way of giving back.”

Brightside was launched by leading national all-day café/bar operator Loungers plc, with a view to injecting the excitement and fun back into travel and reinvigorating UK roadside dining in the process.  Brightside Exeter was the first site to open on 10th February 2023 followed by Brightside Saltash on the A38 which opened in June 2023 and Brightside Honiton on the A303 in August 2023.

Brightside won ‘Best Scalable Concept’ at 2023’s R200s and has been nominated for four more industry awards this Winter including the ‘National Burger Awards’ for the popular Dirty Brisket Burger – all before celebrating its first birthday.
