Amy Jones, having battled with her weight over the years, has found a solution for herself, and a way to help others.

At one time being a fit and healthy mum seemed out of reach for Amy. She was nearly 17 stone and struggling with health issues and anxiety.

Following a history of joint problems, surgeries, three children, and trying every diet plan going, Amy decided to join a Slimming World group in Countess Wear, Exeter in February 2016. She turned to the Extra Easy Food Optimising plan and discovered that weight loss needn’t be a struggle.

The key to her success, she says, is the incredible support she received from her local Slimming World group.

Amy said: "When I first joined the group I was feeling a little out of place, but by the end of the first group, I felt accepted, supported and ready to tackle my weight head on.

"I couldn’t have lost my weight without the support of my consultant and the other members, they have changed my life.

"Attending the groups, not just to weigh in, but to chat and find solutions to the problems we all share is the key, and I love walking away with recipe ideas each week.

"I have found that I can enjoy being a ‘Foodie’ and live my life without measuring and scrutinising every mouthful, and still lose weight and remain healthy’.

"I always found that weighing and counting every calorie made weight loss harder for me because it fed my anxiety relating to food, but now I am more relaxed about my in-take than ever and seeing real results."

Amy went on to lose four stone with the group’s support, and following her success with her own weight loss and becoming ‘Woman of the year’ in 2016 and ‘Greatest Loser’ in 2017, she now turns her attention to helping others achieve their goals.

She believes that the support that slimmers need on their journey goes beyond food and exercise advice and that helping people shed those extra pounds helps whole families in many cases.

"My whole family can share and enjoy Slimming World Food Optimising meals. A firm favourite is the spaghetti bolognaise or an all-day breakfast with lots of mushrooms and tomato."

Amy is about to embark on her new career when she starts her new group on Thursday 12th October 2017 at the Woodwater Academy School at 7.30pm.
