Diners at Rusty Pig in Ottery St Mary will have the opportunity to dine al fresco, with the introduction of an outdoor dining area.

The balcony at the back of the restaurant, which is also the location where Rusty Pig’s charcuterie range is air dried, overlooks the rooftops of Ottery across to St Mary’s Church.

Owner, Robin Rea said: “We are very much into natural ingredients – and what could be more natural than sitting outside to dine?

“We have also included seating for customers who just want to enjoy a drink in the sunshine.”

Rusty Pig offers an eclectic choice of alcoholic drinks with an emphasis on West Country producers, including draught beer, cider, craft gin and a growing range of specialist cocktails.

Robin and front of house manager Agata Domarecka have been busy creating summer cocktails using ingredients foraged from nature; dandelions from Sidbury and thyme and sage grown on the balcony.

“We’ve also created a golden beetroot cordial using beetroot from our salad supplier, Fresh & Green based in Venn Ottery,” explained Agata. “Using the beetroot cordial with Prosecco and fresh sage, we have christened this the ‘Fresh & Green Cocktail.”
