Luke makes the final five

Devon's Luke Friend has made the final five acts in the race to see who will be the winner of this year's X Factor.

He was described as that dark horse of the competition by judge Sharon Osbourne and Oritse from hit band JLS also backed the 17-year-old to win.

Before this weekend's shows, Luke told TED how no one was safe in the competition after he found himself in the bottom two last week.

He added: "Last weekend was hard but it's made me want it more now.The reality of being in the bottom twomakes you realise that you're going to have to bring your A game the following week.

Earlier this week, Luke was photographed by Heat Magazine sporting a drastic new hairstyle sparking an enormous amount of speculation amongst fans and the press as to why on earth he would make the decision to ditch what has become his trademark.

But as we found out, it was all an illusion.

"This is just a rumour. Literally all that happened was I got my hair pinned back which made it look like I'd had my haircut but really that was just everyone assuming I'd had my haircut because of how it looked in the photo shoot. I've still got all my hair - it hasn't changed one bit".
