Students from South West schools were recently presented with awards for their accomplishments on the Practical Learning Programme at Bicton College.

Ten groups of learners from across the County with students aged 14 – 16 received certificates for their Level 1 Qualifications, with special awards also being given for commitment, skills improvement and professional attitude.

The 77 students received praise for their hard work on their respective programmes, which include agriculture, horse care, construction, animal care, motor vehicle maintenance, sports and recreation, and skills for working life.

Parents, tutors and governors attended the awards ceremony with the students, enjoying lunch in the mansion house followed by the presentation of certificates in the main hall.

Ceremony organiser Susan Senior praised the learners and said, “The students have come a long way during their time at Bicton College, developing skills they can progress with and enhance as their career paths take shape. Seeing them flourish in Bicton’s unique learning environment has been extremely rewarding, and they should be very proud of their achievements.”

Students attended the ceremony from Axe Valley, Cullompton, Exmouth, Honiton, Queen Elizabeth’s Academy, Sidmouth, Teign, Uffculme, Ratcliffe, as well as students educated at home.

The 14–16 Practical Learning Programme is a two-year course, where students study for one day a week at Bicton College. Please contact School Liaison Officer Susan Senior for more details: susan.senior@bicton.ac.uk or telephone 01395 562324.
