Exeter YMCA Dartmoor Walk raises over £2,500

Exeter YMCA saw fantastic success for their annual ‘Y-Walk’ event on Saturday 1 June, as a group of more than 40 trekked 11 miles from Okehampton Camp to Postbridge. The participants raised a fantastic £2,590, which will help further the YMCA’s work of providing accommodation and support to homeless young people.

Chief Executive of Exeter YMCA, Peter Stephenson, said, ‘It was a fantastic day, not only because it was such a scenic walk but also because it was a chance to spend a day with some new people, as well as some old friends, and to share about the work we do. Two of our residents were doing the walk and I think that many people found it moving to hear their stories’.

Exeter YMCA would particularly like to thank Jeremy Hunt, a local school teacher, who organised the route and helped lead the walk as well Heatree Activity Centre who provided staff to lead the walk.
