Outsourcing giant, Sitel, is creating 150 jobs at its Exeter call centre as it gears up its customer service offering ready for the Christmas rush.

The company today revealed it plans to create 1100 part and full time jobs nationwide.

The new jobs for Exeter are as a result of Sitel’s work with leading on-line retailers and the roles include sales and customer service advisors providing on-line customer support such as web chat.

IMRG, the UK’s industry association for online retail, reported UK retailing took £34bn over Christmas last year and £114bn in the whole of 2015.  Some 27% of those retail sales took place on-line and it is forecasted this year will see an 11% growth, largely driven by the rise of mobile.

According to analysis from Fung Global Retail & Technology, retail is expected to enjoy a bumper Christmas season this year as Brits are expected to spend around £2.5bn more than last Christmas.

Joanne Regan-Iles, Director of Human Resources for EMEA at Sitel, said; “We offer flexible working hours with excellent training and career development opportunities.  Recent graduates, entrepreneurs looking to supplement their income and second-jobbers are a vital part of the Sitel success story and we are keen to also offer them the chance to add skills and for some, the chance to build careers in customer care”.

Interested candidates should visit www.sitel.com or attend an open day at the site on November 5th from 10 am to 2 pm.
