Exeter's Business Improvement District has expanded its Welcome Team with the appointment of Paul Merrell. He joins Darren and Myra in assisting visitors, monitoring the city environment and working with the businesses across the BID area.

With nearly 17 years’ experience as an energy efficiency surveyor, Paul has picked up a range of skills to bring to the team including management and sales. An excellent communicator, he wanted a people-focused role after being self-employed for a number of years.

Since starting in December 2015, the team have welcomed over 6,000 visitors to Exeter city centre and addressed more than 78 environmental issues and 59 cleansing issues. The Welcome Team are also the focus of a weekly blog post on behalf of the Exeter BID, which follows the team and what they have achieved or seen around Exeter that week.

Craig Bulley, CEO of Exeter BID Company says, “The Welcome Team have produced some impressive figures since starting their roles, and with Paul joining the team we are looking forward to seeing how those numbers increase. By working together with the team we can improve visitor’s experience of the city and offer a key point of contact for city businesses.”

Darren, Myra and Paul have also recently been joined by a cleaning operative who will respond to BID issues and focus on the cleanliness of BID areas.

Make sure to keep up to date with all the news from the Welcome Team in their weekly blog posted on the Exeter BID website every Friday.
