Police are seeking witnesses to a robbery which occurred between 8am and 9am on Sunday 16th October 2016  in South Street in Exeter.

The victim was a 68-year-old woman from Newton Abbot.

Detective Sergeant David Lewandowski said: "The incident happened outside the Wetherspoons George’s Meeting House pub. The victim was approached by a man who at first made a grab for her dog, which was not harmed, and then snatched her white purse containing £15 in cash.

"The suspect is described as a dark skinned man with a beard and moustache, wearing a beanie hat and a red coat. He also had a scarf around his neck.

“This is a particularly unpleasant crime. Although the woman was not injured she was very shaken up by the incident.

“If you witnessed this robbery, we would very much like to hear from you. We would particularly like to hear from a woman who was walking nearby at the time, with the aid of walking sticks, as we think she will have information that can help us with our investigation.”
