Appeal after pedestrian killed on A380

Police are appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision on the A380 Torquay Road in the early hours of this morning (Sunday 26 July).

Police were called at around 1.30am to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian on the A380 Torquay Road near to its junction with Aller Brake Road.

On arrival officers found a male pedestrian having sustained fatal injuries, after being involved in a collision with a vehicle which has failed to stop.

At this time the man, believed to be aged in his 30’s has not been identified but officers are carrying out extensive enquires to do so.

Just prior to the incident police had received reports of a man walking in the road, from the direction of Penn Inn roundabout.

The road was closed in both directions whilst officers from the force’s serious collision investigation unit carryout an investigation at the scene.

Diversions were put  into  place and ther road was re-opened at 9.18am.

Police are appealing from information from the public, and in particular from anyone who was in the area at the time, and either witnessed the collision or saw the man prior to it.
