Details of RWC Exeter Fanzone revealed

Details of the Fanzone that will be set up in Exeter’s  Northernhay gardens during the Rugby World Cup have been revealed.

City council officials have told the Exeter Daily that it will be open for 13 dates opening as early as 10am for some games and closing as late as 11.30pm for others.

Alcohol will be sold from 11am to 11pm (10.30pm on Sundays) .

The dates are as follows:

Friday 18th September 1700 – 2300
Saturday 26th September 1200 – 2330
Tuesday 29th September 1100 - 2330

Saturday 3rd October 1200 – 2330
Wednesday 7th October 1530 – 2300
Saturday 10th October 1200 - 2330
Sunday 11th  October 1000 – 2330
Saturday 17th October 1200 – 2330
Sunday 18th October 1100 - 1900
Saturday 24th October 1200 – 1900
Sunday 25th October 1200 – 1900
Friday 30th October 1700 - 2300
Saturday 31st October 1200 - 2030


The Exeter Fanzone will enable all those who don't have tickets for the Tournament to take part in Rugby World Cup 2015.

Not only will the matches be broadcast live on a giant screen but there will be daily free Rugby and sports activities hosted by the RFU, local rugby clubs, Active Devon and other sports organisations.

On stage in the break, pre and post matches, there will be a broad range of family entertainment - bands, singers, choirs, orchestras, dance and more, hosted by comperes from Sandy Park including former Exeter Chiefs players Chris Bently, Chris Whitehead as well as Sandy Park Match Compare James Chubb.

Each day will see a variety of local excellent food stalls in the Exeter Fanzone offering the best that the South West has to offer and bars run by Exeter Chiefs. Please be advised that the Exeter Fanzone is open air, please bring along a picnic blanket.

Under 16’s must be accompanied by a responsible adult and random bag searching will be undertaken by security on entry to the Exeter Fanzone. No glass, food or drink permitted.

The pay and display parking bays in Northernhay Place will be suspended during the Fanzone period and the main body of the park will be closed to the public.

However there will be pedestrian access to Queen Street and Exeter Central and or Bailey Street/New North Road and High Street.
