The Stable restaurant is set to be next to open in Exeter’s Queen St. Dining and has marked the occasion by putting two vintage caravans on the roof.

The Southern restaurant, opening Thursday 29th September, will be the fourth to open in Exeter’s new dining destination, following the successful unveiling of Turtle Bay, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, and Absurd Bird.

The Exeter restaurant will be the 16th branch of this Southern-based pizza, pie and cider chain. With locations in neighbouring cities, Bristol and Plymouth, it is sure to be a popular choice with Exeter diners.

To keep up its tradition of innovative design, The Stable decided that the roof’s the limit, and craned two restored vintage caravans onto the Queen Street facing roof terrace. The brand, known for using local ingredients and individual design, will keep the caravans permanently in-place for a unique dining and drinking experience, whilst making the most of the outside space.

Originating in the South West, founders Nikki and Richard Cooper gave up their music careers in London and started the venture in Dorset. The couple bought a run down hotel in the centre of Bridport, taking just two years to renovate it. Praised by locals and food critics, after establishing the hotel as a hit, they decided to expand, with restaurants dotted primarily in the south of the country.

The Stable is a major supporter of local food, with each restaurant sourcing their ingredients from their closest producers. Diners can expect delicious locally-crafted ciders, meat and vegetables.

Nikki and Richard are committed to offering local produce at an affordable price. Diners can grab a bargain with the ‘Tuck in Tuesday’ deal that offers a pizza, side salad and drink for just £10. Students also get the bonus of a pizza and pint for £10 everyday except Friday and Saturday.

Nikki said: “We are so delighted to finally have found the perfect site for The Stable in Exeter, a city we have been keen to open in since our first restaurant in Bridport seven years ago. The Higher Market is an impressive building and we are really excited to have a rooftop cider cocktail bar, complete with funky renovated caravans, lounge beds and loads of colourful planting. We envisage it being a great place to hang out with friends and families; a peaceful haven in a very busy and lively city.”

Queen St. Dining will feature an eclectic mix of exciting brands, the majority of which are new to the South West. As well as The Stable, the line-up features: GBK, Comptoir Libanais, Turtle Bay, KuPP, Absurd Bird and The Terrace.

The £12m dining destination will also introduce welcoming open air spaces designed especially for food events, markets and entertainment.

Andrew McNeilly, Manager of Guildhall Shopping & Dining, said: “I’m delighted to announce that the fifth restaurant to open at Queen St. Dining is The Stable. Visitors and residents of Exeter can expect to be treated to delicious pizza and pie, washed down with fine cider.”

Andrew continues: “Following the opening of Turtle Bay, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Absurd Bird and The Terrace, we have already had a great response from diners all eager to visit Queen St. Dining. We look forward to welcoming even more people as the remaining restaurants open.”

Following it’s opening, The Stable will be bringing their Flagon Waggon to Guildhall Shopping & Dining to give visitors a chance to sample some of their fine produce. The Flagon Waggon will be parked in Goldsmith Square from Wednesday 28th September to Friday 30th September.
