#1 – Ignore Bullies

Bullies want attention so the first thing you should do is ignore them as much as possible and walk away. Try to use a different path so avoid any encounter but do not allow the bully to think that you fear him. Report all bullies to an authority immediately.

#2 – Stay Calm at Verbal Bullying

Stay calm and act cheerful to puzzle the bully with your silent reaction to show that he/she does not even matter. Bullies are cowards who want to bring you down to their level by humiliating you in front of others. Wear your best confidence to shatter your bully’s. Never be a party to an insult made to you; this is the last thing you want. Bullies are often not very witty so if they get to your nerves; be cool, wait for your turn to outsmart them. They will soon disappear. #3 – Boycott Covert Bullies

A form of silent bullying includes negative facial or physical gestures and passing menacing or contemptuous looks. Stay confident; give a ‘don’t mess with me’ glare as a warning. A bully’s worst nightmare is others not fearing them anymore. Socially boycotting such a bully with the help of a group of friends helps.

#4 – Beware of Indirect Bullies

This is another form of covert bullying and it is most common among girls where they back-stab you and spread rumors about you. Get alert, take your friends into confidence, and tell them that the stories are lies and that the bully wants attention. Once his/her own reputation is at stake, there is a fair chance the bully will back off.

#5 – Seek Help to Curb Social Alienation

If you are left alone by your peers because you are different, you need help from your people to counter it. Instead of feeling low and depressed, face the situation bravely and talk to an adult whom you trust. This kind of bullying needs support to be curbed; a group effort to get your peers back on track through counseling and moral grooming of the bullies.

#6 – Get Loud against Intimidation

The bully might have his reasons to harass you; it could be hate, immaturity, prejudice, lack of respect for others or a distorted self-image. But you do not need to allow yourself to be a victim of his offensive behavior. Get loud if someone tries to intimidate you, threatens you and wants you to do things for him. Report immediately to an authority!

#7 – Do Not Respond to a Cyber Bully

Never respond to a cyber-bully even if you know the person. Never threaten back as it will only go against you. Save all evidence immediately, block the bully, fix your settings and report to an adult or an authority immediately. Remember, the bully might not always have any motive other than having fun. But as a parent, friend, peer or a victim of bullying yourself; take all kinds of mistreatment seriously!
