An intercultural love poem – featuring the exhilarating and powerful Classical Indian dance of Ajeesh K Balakrishnan in collaboration with Exeter talent Kay Crook.

Antara is sanscrit for ‘between’. The story reaches into the space between science and spiritually, between life and death and between cultures. It asks, what peace can a young man find having rejected a celestial, alien love, because she is different. While he held that love, he felt whole at last…. and his soul yearns to get her back.

Drawing on references in the ancient Vedic texts to the “ties” that bind the inner and outer worlds, Antara seeks to soothe the aching disconnection of modern living.

A post-show talk with members of the Company will follow the performance.
