When Billy Crocker discovers that his heart’s desire, debutante heiress Hope Harcourt, is engaged to an English aristocrat, he stows away aboard the S.S. American to win her back. Aided by a string of eccentric passengers on board the luxurious transatlantic liner, can this web of love be untangled before they reach Southampton?

The Exmouth Players present Open Auditions for “Colder Than Here”, a black comedy, by Laura Wade at 7.00pm on 23rd April 2019 at The Blackmore Theatre, Exmouth. These auditions are open to you all regardless of whether or not you are a member of The Exmouth Players, age and experience. It does not matter if you have not acted before. We are here to help wherever we can. Come along and have some fun and, if it is your first time, gain some experience. It all helps. Nobody can ignore the fact that Myra is dying, but in the meantime life goes on.

Comedy at the Park

The next Comedy at the Park on Friday 26th April will be the South West heat of the Petfringe Comedian of the Year competition.

Nine of the best rising stars of comedy will perform for the chance of reaching the Grand Final and winning £10,001. The competition looks to support comedians who are funny week-in, week-out around the UK yet are often overlooked by other awards.

Professional comedian and industry judges will be present to help choose who goes through to the next round, but audience reaction also counts for 25% of the marks for each act!

Olivier Award-winning OperaUpClose presents a new English version of Donizetti’s Mary, Queen of Scots (Maria Stuarda). Mary, Queen of Scots and Elizabeth I go head-to-head in this historical tragedy. Donizetti’s riveting opera provides an insight both into a compelling period of British history and current tensions, and culminates in a fictitious meeting between the two rival Tudor Queens, which sizzles with vocal fireworks. Donizetti’s powerful melodies will be performed in a new orchestration by Paul McKenzie for six singers, accompanied by piano, clarinet and violin.

The world is in chaos. Hazel, a doctor, and Archer a space shuttle engineer fall in love. Archer’s work creating shuttle engines, when unsuccessful, has terrible repercussions on people’s health, leaving Hazel to deal with the results. What is the cost when the one thing powerful enough to let them leave the planet could also completely destroy it?
