Foot Anstey strengthens Partnership with strategic promotions

National law firm Foot Anstey has announced the promotion of three of its lawyers to the firm's Partnership. Taking effect from 1 May 2024, the internal promotions bring the total number of Partners at the firm to 66.

Joining the Partnership are:

  • Anna Phillips – leading the firm’s charity property practice, from her base in Exeter.
  • Lara Borrett-Lynch – Head of Affordable Housing, based in Southampton.
  • Mark Greatholder – who leads Foot Anstey’s Commercial Energy practice from Bristol.

Roofbase launches a site in Exeter

A roofing supplies business which set up its first store in February has launched its second location in Exeter, creating seven new jobs.

Roofbase has opened an 800 ft² shop, with a 13,500 ft² warehouse and a 6,000 ft² yard in Marsh Barton Trading Estate.

The company is an independent and specialist merchant providing for the full scope of roofing needs, with a team containing particular knowledge and skills in flat roofing. It aims to provide outstanding local service for roofing businesses in the area.

Wealth manager Charles Stanley is celebrating a successful first decade in Exeter, with total funds managed by the branch rising to over £700m for the first time.

The firm, which can trace its history back to 1792, established a presence in the city with the acquisition of the Exeter office of Gerrard in 2007. The office is still based in Broadwalk House, Southernhay West.

Axminster's vital flood relief scheme completed

A £1 million flood prevention scheme in Axminster has been completed.

The Devon County Council scheme in Willhay Lane, which has widened and realigned the Millbrook culvert to improve its capacity and flow of water, now provides vital protection to over 160 homes. A new structure has fully enclosed part of the flood prone channel and earlier phases of the scheme enabled the construction of a flood defence wall and the installation of a ‘tree-catcher’ debris grill upstream of the culvert beneath Willhay Lane. Five members of Brewin Dolphin’s Exeter team are celebrating after achieving significant exam success.

All Assistant Portfolio Managers, Chris Farmer and Joseph Noble both passed the second stage of their Chartered Wealth Management qualification and Alice Proctor and Joe Robson both passed the first module. Neil Johnson also achieved a pass in the Private Client Advice exam.

Selwood donation helps keep dogs active at Devon rescue centre

Selwood’s Exeter plant hire specialists went to the rescue after a cry for help went up from volunteers at a dog rehabilitation and rehoming centre.

Devon Dog Behaviour Rehab and Rehome put out an appeal after its lawnmower, which was regularly used to maintain two large exercise areas, broke down. The mower was old and parts to repair it could no longer be found.
