Fairy houses and paper giraffe on show in new exhibition

Freehand is a new exhibition of inspirational craftwork made by local young people and adults in workshops run by the Devon Guild, during 2014-15

Exhibition runs until Sunday 5 July.

The gallery will show objects made in a series of community workshops by Guild makers and artists, who worked with children and young people supported by social services and with complex needs, older people living in supported communities, refugees, adults with learning disabilities and prisoners from HMP Dartmoor. Recycle Devon is pleased to be able to launch a series of public, free to attend repair, refurbishment and upcycling events to take place throughout 2015.

The events will pass on skills and ideas to keep bicycles, electrical goods, furniture, clothes and other textiles from going to waste.

The initial series of workshops will focus on repair and maintenance of bicycles intending to help people bring a long, forgotten bike back into use that might otherwise have ended up being scrapped.

Allergy awareness workshop

There's still time for people in the catering business to book a place on a workshop looking at new legislation involving allergens in food.

New regulations become law from December for the way restaurants, pubs, cafes inform customers about the allergens contained in meals or snacks.

Exeter City Council is running a Food information for Consumers/Allergy Awareness workshop on Tuesday (25 November) from 10am to 12 noon. The cost of the course is £10 per delegate.
