Following on from its 110th anniversary celebrations, this Easter Exeter Musical Society begins a new era with the ‘divine musical comedy’ Sister Act.

Based on its namesake 1992 movie, Sister Act tells the story of Deloris Van Cartier, an aspiring disco diva trying to make her way to the top in 1970’s Philadelphia.

Deloris falls in love with Curtis Shank, a gangster. However, when she sees him commit a murder, the police put her in a witness protection scheme and send her to a convent.

Deloris finds her calling with the choir.

Her glamorous lifestyle and general ‘fabulousness’ keep you rooting for her every step of the way.

Modern Broadway ballads make way for rousing all-cast production numbers in the infectious score from eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken.

Who wouldn’t love nuns in sequins, unlikely friendships, the solidarity of Sisterhood and a happy ending?

This amateur production is presented by arrangement with JOSEF WEINBERGER LTD. on behalf of MUSIC THEATRE INTERNATIONAL of NEW YORK
