Exeter Comedy Grove

Exeter Comedy Grove presents Ellen Tinkhams South Africa Expedition Fundraiser.

Line Up –

MC – Cerys Nelmes – ‘She has got two gurt milk churns and an acre behind’ – The Wurzels  Cerys

Support – Steve Day – steve

Steve Day describes himself as Britain’s only deaf comedian, if there are any others he hasn’t heard. Actually there are a couple of others who have started since he wrote that joke, but it’s only a joke after all.

For the past eleven years Steve has been performing to huge laughter around the country and abroad, well they tell him the laughter was huge to humour him, he doesn’t know either way.

Support – James Alderson

James Alderson was voted “Best Comedy Act 2015” by the WOW247 Awards and was voted “Best Comedian 2014” by The Guide Awards, and 2017 just gets better and better!

The last 12 months have been huge and very exciting for James!

As well as supporting Dane Baptiste on his UK tour, James recently filmed a new Sky Christmas comedy show, which aired in the UK in Christmas 2016.

Ellen Tinkham School and College is a local authority funded special school and post-16 provision near Exeter in Devon, with 160 pupils ranging from age 3-19. All have either severe or profound learning difficulties: many also have physical, sensory or behavioural needs, and come from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The trip will take place in the Summer Term of 2018, and will be a 2-week expedition in and around Durban; including conservation work, safari, hiking and a visit to a similar special needs school we have recently set up a link with.

This expedition really will be like no other, and a once in a lifetime experience for our students – similar to what is regularly offered to their mainstream peers in college or university, or planned by many young people off their own backs as they set off on gap year travels. However, for such a life changing expedition to happen a significant amount of planning and fundraising needs to take place beforehand
