Massive torrential rain has hit the Republic of Mauritius, just east of Madagascar.

Heavy flooding has deluged Port Louis, a city with a population of approximately 150,000 inhabitants.

Local residents have reported avalanches of mud overturning cars and blocking streets.

At least ten people have been killed, with at least eight of the victims being caught in underground areas as the flood waters rose rapidly. Another died of a heart attack. Witnesses have spoken of "avalanches of water", with at least 15 cars swept away. (NewsPoint)

Chinese officials have reportedly cracked-down on foreign media in Tibet by dismantling satellite dishes at the Labrang Tashi Kyil monastery in Labrang (Gansu province), Amdho region, eastern Tibet on March 10th, the 54th anniversary of the Tibetan uprising in Lhasa.

The monastery was ordered to remove and burn their satellite dishes. Monastery officials were informed the satellites would be replaced with state sanctioned devices, capable of only receiving Chinese state controlled programmes. The move will block the Monastery from obtaining access to international media.

A tragic accident involving fireworks occurred in Jesus Tepactepec, a village of about 1,000 people 70 miles (112 kilometers) east of Mexico City on Friday 15 March. A fireworks explosion during a religious procession killed at least 16 people and another 80 remain hospitalised due to their injuries, authorities said.
