If you’re looking for a wet and wild fun-filled day out then Splashdown Quaywest in Paignton is, without a doubt, the place to head for.

I took my son Sam and his friend Charlie, both 10, for the day recently, and they had had an absolutely fantastic time.

The park offers eight flume rides including the Devil’s Drop - a heart-stopping ride for thrill seekers, the Wild Kamikaze, Tumbling Tyres and The Screamer. For younger children there’s the Submarine Splash and Tiddler fun pool.

Sam and Charlie’s favourite ride of all was the Tumbling Tyres.

While I didn’t get into the water myself, the boys said that the water temperature was perfect.

Wetsuits can be hired and there are plenty of lockers available. There are lifeguards on duty and we found all the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly.

We would recommend buying a large rubber ring with handles on (or take your own if you have one) to save having to wait for them to become free.

As well as the water slides there is plenty of space to simply swim and play in the water. The sunbathing area has deckchairs and ample sun beds – ideal to chill out and take the odd dip in the swimming pool!

The View restaurant is open for everyone to enjoy from 4pm on the days the park is open, and affords spectacular views over the bay. There’s an extensive menu with food to suit all tastes and prices are reasonable.

The park also arranges children’s parties, details of which can be found on their website.

All in all Splashdown Quaywest is a fantastic day out for all ages.  We all thoroughly enjoyed our day there.

Sam and Charlie have given it a great big, 5 star, thumbs up.

The park closes on Sunday 7th September this year, so there is still time to squeeze in a day, or even a few hours there.

Single all day admission is £13 per person, £6.50 for children under five and pensioners. You can just go along for two hours, where admission is £10.50, concessions £5.50.

Visit their website for opening times and more information and like their Facebook page to keep up to date with news and offers.
