Couples seeking a magical setting for their wedding day are in for a real treat from January 2015, when Bridwell – the beautiful Georgian country home of Lord Ivar Mountbatten – is set to open its doors to the public for the first time in its 240-year history.

Ideally located moments from the M5 in rolling Devon parkland, and complete with its own red and fallow deer herd, Bridwell is already creating a name for itself as one of the region’s hottest new exclusive-use wedding venues.

Lord Mountbatten and his team have created a relaxed, yet stylish venue, featuring a plethora of romantic spaces in which to say ‘I do’ or to host a memorable wedding reception, from the charming Gothic-style chapel perfect for civil ceremonies to the impressive 150-seat Orangery, a delightful building with four French doors opening on to the gardens and approached under a long pergola, fragrantly scented with wisteria and honeysuckle in the flowering season.

With stunning views over the lake, the bride and groom can indulge in the splendour of the Lady Ivar suite, which is romantically furnished with a four-poster bed, sumptuous bathroom with roll-top bath and spacious adjoining dressing room. Meanwhile, the rest of the wedding party can be accommodated in 10 beautifully designed en-suite bedrooms, or for larger parties, in superior ‘glamping’ tents thanks to an exclusive partnership with the Pop-Up Hotel.
