Fundraising dinner raises £7,500 to combat homelessness across Exeter

On Friday 12th October YMCA Exeter held its third annual fundraising dinner at Woodbury Park Hotel with guests including The High Sheriff of Devon, Mrs Grania Philips, and Chief Constable of Devon & Cornwall Police, Shaun Sawyer.

The Black Tie event was attended by 160 people and through ticket sales, a silent auction and individual pledges, and so far YMCA Exeter have raised £7,500 with donations still being made.

Celebrating its 174th year, the recent prestigious Dartmouth Sailing Week was a huge success. With more competitors than in previous years, taking part from clubs right along the South coast, Dartmouth, and its surrounding waters, was buzzing with activity. Hospiscare is asking ‘going green’ at the upcoming Twilight Walk in Exmouth, which takes place on Saturday, 7 July. The charity is also taking measures to keep environmental impact at the event as low as possible – for example, no ready-filled water bottles will be available.

Along with the Twilight Walk’s usual 5-mile and 10-mile routes there will be a 5k fun run – and all walkers and runners are encouraged to bring their own reusable water bottles to cut down on single-use plastic bottles. Cathedral Financial Management (CFM) hosts art exhibition as part of Art Week Exeter

Award-winning CFM sponsored Art Week Exeter - the city’s art festival, by hosting an art reception at Eagle House, Exeter Science Park. Over 40 guests made up of CFM staff, clients, professionals from the Exeter business community, as well as friends and supporters were welcomed with fizz and wine. A new activity is hitting the streets of Exeter this week with the launch of the Tramble App, a 60-minute walking challenge where you answer 10 questions based on what you see along the route.

There are currently two of the Tramble walks in Exeter with more to follow in the summer.

Mihangelf Promotions bring Banco de Gaia to South Devon

Mihangelf Promotions is a relatively new music promotions enterprise in South Devon putting on live music.

Thus far, there have been five events at the Unit 23 Live venue in Totnes, formerly South Devon Arts Centre, a short hop away on the train or up the A38.

The enterprise is run by music lover Mike Fraser who lives local to Totnes.

Genres of music focused on are psychedelic rock, psychedeliic/ambient/world dance and progressive rock, though don't be surprised at the occasional reggae or folk event.

Over 200 guests helped to celebrate the official opening of the new £8.5m Marshall Exeter Audi terminal building, almost double the size of the former centre and with extensive customer parking. The event helped to showcase the latest Audi Terminal concept and the glittering 15-car showroom.
