Ninety guests joined The Down’s Syndrome Association(DSA) and Down Syndrome International(DSi) at Sandy Park on February 6th for an exclusive Evening with Damon Hill OBE.

Damon Hill hosted a champagne reception and dinner before giving a unique insight in to the life behind his public persona.  Damon entertained everyone with wonderful stories about his childhood, about his father Graham Hill  and his own successful motor racing career which resulted in him becoming Formula One World Champion. The audience had exclusive viewings of private family photographs documenting 3 generations of the Hill’s extraordinary lives.

There were many other motor racing legends included in the family albums through the years. Damon also answered questions from the audience about his life, his family and the world of Formula One.

As guests arrived they were greeted by the harmonious voices of Semi-Toned, the Exeter based a cappella group.  After dinner Graham Barton (from Clive Emson Auctioneers), resplendent in his trademark striped blazer, treated everyone to a very lively auction.

Graham’s wit and expertise helped the event to raise a fantastic £30,000 which will enable the DSA to help people with Down’s syndrome throughout Devon and Cornwall and DSi to help babies and children with Down’s syndrome in India.
