Major blaze at Devon farm

Firefighters are tackling a major blaze at a farm in Cullompon today.

The report from the control team is below:

The Fire Service received several calls reporting a barn on fire at Clayhidon, Cullompton.  Two fire appliance from Wellington, two fire appliances Taunton and the water carrier from Bridgwater attended.

Fire crews confirmed two barns well alight.  All stock had been removed from the barns prior to the arrival of the Fire Service.  The fire was spreading to an adjacent workshop.

Update at 04:22 hrs - Fire crews are at work with a compressed air foam systems jet and one hose reel jet.

Update at 04:36 hrs - Fire crews requested the attendance of an Environmental Protection Unit with a supporting fire appliance from Taunton.

Update at 04:52 hrs - Fire crew at now at work with four breathing apparatus wearers and two compressed air foam systems branches.  Fire crews are also at work with one main jet cooling a diesel storage tank.

Update at 05:24 hrs - Fire crews are focussing their efforts on the workshop, cooling the adjacent diesel tank and cooling an acetylene cylinder using two breathing apparatus wearers, two compressed air foam systems jets, two hose reel jets and one main jet.

Update at 05:44 hrs - Breathing apparatus is now discontintued.  Fire crews are shuttling water to the incident ground using the water carrier.

This incident is ongoing.
