Cranbrook Country Park is hosting a wildlife gardening session this Saturday morning, February 25.

The session will take place between 10am and 12pm; families are invited to take part in building homes for the wildlife in the area.

Children will have the opportunity to create bird feeders for their own gardens and build a safe environment for bees using a baked bean tin and bamboo.

There will also be the chance to help build a bug hotel which is made from leftover materials.

Cranbrook Country Park has already carried out three sessions so far this year.

Emma Jones, the country park ranger, says the sessions are to help remind people to look after the wildlife.

“We want to encourage people to let wildlife into their homes,” Emma said.

The country park ranger says most homes in Cranbrook have their own area of grass, which is ideal for residents to welcome in living creatures such as bugs and hedgehogs.

The meeting point for anyone who wants to take part is at the Younghayes Community Centre, Cranbrook.

This event is weather permitting and it’s advised that people check Wild East Devon’s Twitter and Facebook on the day.
