Neil Parish, Member of Parliament for Tiverton and Honiton, was appointed Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to the Minister of State for Transport, the Rt Hon John Hayes MP, following the recent reshuffle of the Cabinet. As a PPS Neil Parish will act as a liaison between backbench MPs and the Minister, serve as an important channel of communication and attend meetings in the Department for Transport.

The Rt Hon John Hayes MP, who Neil will be assisting, was appointed Minister of State at the Department for Transport on 15th July 2014. He is also senior Parliamentary adviser to the Prime Minister. His responsibilities include national roads, Highways Agency reform and maritime policy.

Commenting on Neil’s appointment the Minister said: "I am delighted to be working with Neil Parish who has been a spirited campaigner for his constituents, a robust Parliamentarian and a good friend since he entered the House in 2010."

Speaking on his appointment Neil Parish said: “I am honoured to have been asked to join the Minster as his Parliamentary Private Secretary and to assist him in his work at the Department of Transport. This Government has a strong record and is funding the biggest investment in transport infrastructure since World War Two and will invest over £70 billion in transport over the next eight years.

"I look forward to working with the Minister to ensure that Devon and the rest of the UK has a resilient transport network that will help secure the gains of the Government’s long term economic plan.”
