Man charged for Armed Robbery

Police have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with a armed robbery at jewellers shop in Paignton.

The 21-year-old from Torquay, named Zico Rawlinson was arrested on suspicion of robbery and later charged with robbery.

The robbery on Tuesday 22 April saw  three people enter the House of Diamonds on  Torquay Road, dressed in hooded tops and overalls.

They were allegedly armed with a baseball bat and a knife.

Witnesses managed to detain one of the offenders whilst another two made off and got into a waiting car.

The white Peugeot was recovered a short distance away with the two other suspects making off on foot.

During the robbery the shop owner sustained a minor injury to his arm.

Police investigating the robbery are still appealing for any information connected to the scene.

Inspector Justin Wyles, Sector Inspector for Paignton and Brixham, said:”We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the robbery or saw the offenders make off.”

Mr Rawlinson will appear before Torquay Magistrates Court on Thursday (24 April)
