Coldplay were kings of the castle when they rocked Powderham as the headline act of the Radio 1 Big Weekend.

Exeter-born frontman Chris Martin was visibly moved to be back on home soil.

Before the band's set began, he even knelt and kissed the stage!

The band raised the roof performing some of their favourite hits including Paradise, Yellow and Fix You.

An estimated 50,000 watched acts including  Jess Glynne, Ellie Goulding, Take That, Craig David and Mumford and Sons during the two-day event.

One of those at the event, Devon mum Stacey Hedge, tweeted: Cracking finale to #BigWeekend. What a day #Exeter

It is hoped the exposure for Exeter and Powderham will have a spin-off in terms of tourism.
