The Devon County Agricultural Association, organisers of the Devon County Show, the county’s largest annual event, is gearing up for a double celebration this year.

2014 will be the 119th County Show, an annual celebration of farming, food and the countryside, and it is 25 years since the Association took ownership of the Westpoint showground, which is home to the County Show and its wholly owned subsidiary company - Westpoint Centre (Devon).

Tickets are on sale now for the Devon County Show - known as the South West’s agricultural showing season curtain-raiser, as well as offering a great day out for all the family.

Show Secretary Ollie Allen said:

“We are putting on a show to raise everyone’s spirits! The wettest winter since records began has taken its toll on us all, especially those whose homes and livelihoods have been so badly affected by flooding. We hope by May that we will be coming out the other side of this crisis and everyone will be able to enjoy a much-needed, good day out.”

More than 95,000 visitors are expected to flock into the showground over three full days, getting a taste of country living and enjoying traditional - and fun -entertainment.

The Show will see the ‘creme de la creme’ of the livestock, equine, fur and feather world walking away with colourful rosettes and sashes. Taking centre stage in the Mole Valley Farmers main arena will be the Kangaroo Kids - Australian stunt men Matt Coulter and his son Sam, who will be providing a thrilling display of quad bike aerobatics. Nearby motor power will be replaced with human strength as Savage Skills live up to its reputation as the UK’s leading freestyle mountain bike stunt team.

Some of the Main Attractions include Devon’s largest temporary cattle shed , a dog show and local food and drink available to purchase.

Tickets are available in advance either from the show website www.devoncountyshow.co.uk , the tickets hotline 01392 353700 or from a variety of high street outlets.
