We are not yet in a position to comment regarding whether there have been any criminal offences or other breaches of legislation. However, the safety of the students is paramount and we will work together to ensure that a thorough investigation is conducted."

Parents at the school and students aged 18 and over, were sent a letter from the academy. It said information had been received that "there may be a problem about how people are looked after" at the school.

Dear,

Recently ERADE and Devon County Council have received information saying there may be a problem about how people are looked after at ERADE.

We think it is important that we look into this carefully and because you are over 18, it is your choice if you want to be involved.

Devon County Council has arranged for people to visit school and meet some students, to find out how they feel about how they are looked after.

It is really important you feel included in this. We want to hear about good things and if you have worries about the education and care you receive.

If you feel there is something important for us to know please email: sensory@devon.gov.uk or SMS 07980 582827. It is your choice if you want contact us or you can share this letter with your family.

Yours sincerely,
