An Exeter man has caused an internet sensation by strutting down the city’s High Street wearing hotpants and heels – all in aid of Hospiscare!

More than 137,000 people have watched videos of bearded Mark Williamson, wearing a tie, shirt and jacket, with bright blue shiny hot-pants and heels, strutting his stuff to bemused shoppers.

Mark,47, was dared to carry out the crazy stunt, copying the Money Supermarket’s ad, Dave’s Epic Strut, and after practising in his lounge and the garden he stunned and amused Saturday shoppers who of course got their phones out and filmed him. Result:  one video was viewed by 77,000 people and another had 60,000 views!

The father-of-two shimmied to the song Don't Cha by The Pussycat Dolls raising more than £500 on the day, with his JustGiving page taking the sum to just over £1,000 for local charity, Hospiscare. Mark is very keen to raise as much money as possible as a Hospiscare nurse cared for his father who died five years ago.

“I’ve been on social media for the past two days talking about my Epic Strut – it’s absolutely wonderful the reaction to it. It’s just gone bonkers! I wasn’t expecting this, I thought I would just do it, raise money and forget about it. I'm just happy that I brought a smile to Exeter," said Mark.

“The more help I can give to Hospiscare by raising money the better. The Hospiscare nurse was absolutely amazing, she held us together when we were falling apart. She looked after all of us,” he said.

It was a dare between friends which led to Mark’s High Street adventure – although the real adventure began when he tried on stilettos for the first time and had to grip the kitchen side for dear life. He finally got the hang of heels and even wore them making breakfast for his children.

Wondering how Mark achieved such a large derriere? He used a pair of joke shop boobs.
