Get the kettle on for Hospiscare

Help allow people to die and live with dignity by supporting the Hospiscare Coffee Morning urged broadcaster Judi Spiers.

Judi was speaking at the official launch of the local charity’s latest campaign to raise funds to help 2,200 terminally ill patients who are cared for by Hospiscare across Exeter, East and Mid Devon.

“The hospice movement is an incredible national organisation and it allows people to die with dignity and live with dignity,” said Judi. “Keep up the fantastic work Hospiscare.”

She urged local people to hold a coffee morning to help towards the £6.2m needed every year – only 20 per cent of this is funded by the NHS.

Susie Healey, Hospiscare fundraiser said: “Holding a coffee morning is a really simple way to raise funds for us and to have a lovely catch up with friends, family or colleagues.

"If you want to bake cakes that’s great but if baking’s not your thing, then just buy cakes or biscuits – it’s the getting together that really matters.

"We've launched it now but the event takes place during September. You could have a coffee morning at work, at school or in your own home – wherever works best for you. Go on get the kettle on for Hospiscare!”

The launch was held on a beautiful balmy evening at Darts Farm when guests enjoyed a cuppa and cake, courtesy of Mad Cakes as they watched a demonstration by Ashburton Cookery School, chef director Darrin Hosgrove.

The Hospiscare Coffee Morning is kindly sponsored by Itech.
